You've probably heard the name and if not, you've definitely seen her. From Making The Band (circa early 2000s); selling two multi-platinum artists with all-girl group, Danity Kane; 1/3 of Diddy's Dirty Money; and her solo projects since 2013-Ms. Richard has been visible on the music scene for almost ten years.

A New Orleans native, Dawn Richard claims that she knows nothing but music, which is made clear through her non-stop production. Recently, Dawn sat with Nessa on Air of Hot 97 to talk about her history with Danity Kane; and how Diddy bought her out of her contract to pursue her indie endeavors.

As an Indie artist, Richard expresses how important it is to recognize your demographic as well as identifying your passion and your sound. She says, "Sit in your sauce for a second, it's okay to be different."

Dawn also shares her opinion about the indie music community and mentions her desire for independent female artists to get more shine as much as the male indie talents.

Dawn's most recent release, "Lazarus Under Lights," uses an interactive tech component to create an individual video experience.
